Pedernales Expedition 2008 For Rebreather Divers
If the Dominican Republic has a well kept secret, Pedernales in the southwest corner of the country is definitely it. This small fishing village serves as a portal to several different cave areas. Two of the country's major national parks , Parque Nacional Jaragua and Parque National de Bahoruco are the destination for both our Pirates Cove Open Circuit and CCR Cave Expeditions.
Here we will explore 5 extremely diversified cave systems. Uwe Rath, who led the first expedition to this area in 1999, will lead both Expeditions.
We will explore:
- El Asfalto
- Trou Nicolas
- Pozo la Picina
- Pozo la Hicotea
- Palo de Luz
For more detailed information on each of these sites, look under Dive Sites and you will find more about these caves.
The expedition is 5 days, 4 nights, and 3 days of diving (5 dives) for Full Cave Certified Divers. It includes hotel, food & non alcoholic beverages, local transportation from airport, all transportation to cave sites, entrance fees to national parks, all cylinder setups (steel 85cf manifold doubles for OC), gas and absorbent (for CCR expedition).
